Austria secures friendly draw against club of ex-Rapid coach Klauß
SK Sturm, meanwhile, celebrates a convincing victory over a regional league team, while Hartberg beats a Czech first-division club.
Vienna Austria drew 1-1 with Slovakian first-division side DAC Dunajska Streda in Frauenkirchen in their third pre-season friendly.
After just ten minutes of play, the Violets suffered their first setback: new signing Julian Hettwer had to be substituted due to injury.
In a reunion with 110-game FAK attacker Andreas Gruber, the Violets were leading 1-0 at halftime after a goal from captain Manfred Fischer (39'). The equalizer came in the 66th minute from Giorgi Gagua.
Numerous Players Still Absent
For the Violets, Aleksandar Dragovic, Johannes Handl and Philipp Maybach were carrying slight knocks. Philipp Wiesinger and Kelvin Boateng were also not fully fit and unavailable. Taesok Lee is still on vacation after his World Cup participation with South Korea.
Dunajska Streda has been coached by former Rapid coach Robert Klauß since this summer. The club, like Austria, will enter the UEFA Conference League qualification on July 23.
"Dunajska Streda is an opponent that always challenges us – therefore, it was an important test where we could gain many insights. Today, some of our key players were absent, but we still performed well in many areas," said head coach Stephan Helm.
FAK Line-up, 1st Half: Şahin-Radlinger – Radonjić, Kang Hee Lee, Feddersen – Ranftl, Fischer, Wustinger, Schablas – Hettwer (14. Marković), Eggestein, Šaljić

Early Shock Doesn't Derail Sturm
Runners-up Sturm Graz beat SC Kaldsdorf 4-1.
The Blackies were shocked early by the regional league team through Christoph Fuchs (2'), but Szymon Wlodarczyk (5') quickly equalized, and Jeyland Mitchell scored the go-ahead goal in the first half (21').
In the second half, Wisler Lazarre (51') and Amady Camara (58') added goals to make it 3-1 and 4-1.
TSV Hartberg, meanwhile, beat Czech first-division club FC Zbrojovka Brno 2-0. The goals were scored by Marco Hoffmann (23') and Paul Komposch (90').
