Rapid contract dissolved! ÖFB signs ex-LASK coach Sageder

Thomas Sageder (42) will become the head coach of the ÖFB U15 national team from September and will also oversee the U15 Future Team.

The ex-LASK head coach most recently worked as assistant coach to Peter Stöger at SK Rapid. The ÖFB found a solution with the Viennese club to terminate his still-valid employment contract.

Past at the ÖFB

Sageder previously worked as an assistant coach for the successful U17 national team during qualification under Hermann Stadler. He was not on board for the tournament where they won the runner-up title.

"We are pleased that we were able to bring Thomas Sageder on board as the new U15 head coach. Thomas brings experience from both top-tier football and youth development work and is already familiar with our training philosophy from his time as assistant to Hermann Stadler. With his experience and professional expertise, he will optimally complement our youth development work," said Sebastian Prödl, Head of Youth National Teams.

Sageder is looking forward to his new role: "The opportunity to accompany Austria's most promising talents as U15 head coach on their journey and support their development is a task I am very much looking forward to. As an assistant coach to Hermann Stadler, I already got to know and appreciate the working methods of the youth national teams."

New Position Created

In addition to his duties, Sageder will also take responsibility for talent promotion. Konstantin Breuer (30) will also become the Head of Youth Football U6 to U15 in the Talent Promotion Department of the Sports Directorate from August.

Breuer was involved in the development of the ÖFB training concept.

"I am very pleased about the trust and the opportunity to actively shape the further development of youth football at the ÖFB. Our goal must be to offer as many children as possible an environment in which they can develop with joy. Good education doesn't start in the academy, but many years before," said Breuer.
