First Vienna FC strengthens squad with attacking player from the Ruhr region
The South Korean most recently played for Schalke 04's second team.
First Vienna FC 1894 announced the transfer of In-gyom Jung on Tuesday.
The South Korean attacking player joins from the second team of German Bundesliga club Schalke 04.
Via Detours to the Ruhr Region
Jung began his football career in his homeland with Bucheon United before venturing abroad in 2017. He moved to Germany to Düsseldorfer SC 99.
In Düsseldorf, the major city rival noticed the right-footed player and signed Jung. At Fortuna Düsseldorf, he progressed through all youth teams up to the U17s.
In the Youth Ranks of Bundesliga Clubs
After 17 appearances in the U19 Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen, In-gyom Jung moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach's U23 team. In Gladbach, the attacking player scored eleven goals in 47 matches in the Regionalliga-West.
Most recently, the South Korean was under contract with Schalke 04's second team. With the "Knappen," Jung registered ten goal contributions.
High Expectations
"With In-gyom, we gain a technically strong attacking player who can be deployed in multiple positions. He will bring us intensity, determination, and high dynamism. This versatility will give our offense additional options," Sport Director Dieter Elsneg is quoted on the club's website.
The player is also looking forward to his new challenge: "I am very much looking forward to the new challenge at Vienna. The discussions with those in charge immediately convinced me. Now I want to integrate quickly into the team, work hard, and do my part to ensure we are successful as a team."
