ÖFB Team improves in FIFA World Ranking

Austria has improved by one spot in the new FIFA World Ranking. The update published on Monday now lists the ÖFB team in 23rd place. Previously, head coach Ralf Rangnick's squad was ranked 24th.

The improvement comes after the 2026 World Cup, where Austria secured a win against Jordan (3:1), a draw against Algeria (3:3), and two losses against Argentina (0:2) and Spain (0:3).

Spain Overtakes Argentina at the Top

There's a new leader at the top of the World Ranking: newly crowned world champions Spain have displaced Argentina from the number one spot. The Iberians now lead the ranking ahead of "La Albiceleste" and France.

Norway makes the biggest jump in the new ranking. The World Cup quarter-finalist improves from 31st to 19th place, making them one of the biggest winners of the update.

Nations League Matches as Next Test

The next update of the FIFA World Ranking will be on October 7. Before then, the ÖFB team has four matches scheduled as part of the UEFA Nations League.

At the end of September, Austria will first play twice in front of their home crowd: they will face Israel in Linz, and Kosovo awaits in Vienna. At the beginning of October, two away matches against Ireland and Kosovo will follow.
