Outburst! Argentinian attacks Spaniard after Final defeat
Leandro Paredes confronts several Spanish players after the game. He receives a red card for it.
The disappointment for Argentina after the 0-1 defeat in the World Cup final against Spain was immense.
Leandro Paredes could no longer hold back his frustration after the final whistle and completely lost control immediately after the game ended. First, he caused unsightly scenes after grabbing Eric Garcia by the neck, then he wanted to confront Gavi, who was trying to de-escalate the situation.
He brought him down and swung at him. Some of his teammates tried to calm him down, and head coach Lionel Scaloni was eventually able to soothe his protégé.
Even during the match, the Argentinian frequently stood out negatively with harsh fouls. For his behavior, he received a yellow card during regular time, with a red card following after the final whistle.
