These are Herzog and Janko's World Cup Winner Picks
In their podcast "HERZERL mit JANKO", the duo holds different opinions in their predictions ahead of the big World Cup final.
Spain will be World Champion - or Argentina after all?
Andreas Herzog and Marc Janko hold different opinions in their podcast "HERZERL mit JANKO" regarding the outcome of the World Cup final between reigning European champions Spain and defending champions Argentina (9 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>).
"After the Spaniards' semi-final match, I determined that we had seen the future World Champion. I couldn't imagine that there would be anyone who could counter that," says Janko.
Ten Groupies with their Childhood Idol
But then came Argentina and their impressive comeback against England. "Those are ten groupies with their absolute childhood idol," the former ÖFB striker says, speaking in glowing terms about Lionel Messi and his teammates.
"I believe that really unleashes another burst of energy. These are truly eleven friends on the pitch who want to enable their great idol to reach this milestone. With this emotionality and heartwarming story, one can also counter the Spaniards."
Therefore, his prediction is: "3:2 for Argentina."
Herzog Sees "Slight Advantages" for Spain
Herzog sees things differently. "I believe that Spain is really strong as a team and it will be really tough for Argentina. They have to stop the flow of play, perhaps also with some toughness. That is the Argentine approach."
With that, the "Furia Roja" could indeed be stopped. "They don't like that. The big question is how they react to that," says the 103-cap international. The passion and resilience - paired with Lionel Messi - could carry Argentina to the title again.
But: "I see slight advantages for Spain." Therefore, the Viennese predicts a 3:2 victory for Spain.
