Stefan Maierhofer becomes the new head coach of Kremser SC.

The 43-year-old returns to the very club where he ended his active playing career in 2023 and had previously been active as a player-coach.

The move comes somewhat surprisingly after previous coach Philipp Zulechner left the regional league club just under three weeks after his appointment.

KSC President stated in a club announcement that he was "very happy to have found a great solution within the shortest possible time." Maierhofer also looks forward to the "new challenge," which "extremely excites" him.

Successful Career as a Player

Maierhofer looks back on an eventful career as a professional. The 2.02-meter tall attacker made a total of 19 international appearances for the Austrian national team between 2008 and 2011, scoring one goal.

His greatest successes include the championship title with SK Rapid in 2008 and the double with FC Red Bull Salzburg in 2012.

In that season, Maierhofer also became the top scorer of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.
