Reportedly Sealed: Ex-Rapid Player Mamadou Sangare Moves to England
The midfielder is set to become a record signing for an English Premier League club, bringing a windfall to his former club SK Rapid.
What has been brewing over the past few days is now reportedly finalized: Former Rapid player Mamadou Sangare is moving from RC Lens to Brentford FC in the English Premier League.
This is reported by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. Talks are said to be already concluded, with only the medical check remaining. The deal could be finalized as early as next weekend. Glasner's former club Crystal Palace was also reportedly interested in Sangare.
SK Rapid Also Profits
At "The Bees," the 24-year-old is expected to become the new record signing with a transfer fee of around 48 million Euros, surpassing Dango Ouattara.
The transfer not only brings a windfall to his current club, French top-flight side RC Lens, but also to SK Rapid – the Hütteldorfer club secured a sell-on clause when selling the Malian in August 2025 and can now look forward to millions in revenue.
At that time, Sangare moved for a reported eight million Euros from SK Rapid to Ligue 1 and made 33 competitive appearances for Lens.
At the end of the season, he became runner-up with the club, where Austrian international Samson Baidoo also plays, behind Paris Saint-Germain. As a replacement for the former Rapid player, a LASK player is now in the sights of RC Lens.
