Will Mamadou Sangare (24) set a new transfer fee record at RC Lens?

As reported by French newspaper "L'Equipe", the Malian is in advanced negotiations with Premier League club Brentford FC. A transfer fee of 48 million Euros is being reported.

This would see Sangare set a new record at Lens. According to "transfermarkt", the most expensive departures so far are Lois Openda with his move to RB Leipzig and Abdukodir Khusanov with his transfer to Manchester City. Both transfers reportedly cost 40 million Euros each.

Crystal Palace Reportedly Also Still in the Running

Lens' management is said to have been discreetly negotiating with Brentford for weeks. An agreement was reportedly close to being reached on Tuesday.

However, Crystal Palace is also reportedly still in the running for midfielder Sangare. Already at the end of June, there were rumours about a move to Oliver Glasner's former club.

Pierre Sage has been in office there since this summer. The Frenchman was Lens coach last season and led the club to a runners-up finish.

Sangare only moved from SK Rapid to Ligue 1 last year for a reported eight million Euros and made 33 competitive appearances for Lens. Brentford finished ninth in the Premier League last season.
