Ndukwe loan to FAK? "Talks have taken place, but..."

Liverpool FC signed Austrian Ifeanyi Ndukwe from FK Austria Wien this summer.

They didn't know about the rule

Last season, clubs still had two exception slots, which will be reduced to one in 2026/27. "We didn't know that, the club didn't know that. We have to deal with it now," explains manager Georg Lederer on "ORF".

The 18-year-old took the news professionally. The player and his advisors are in close contact with the club in search of a new team.

Currently on US tour

It's about the playing system and, above all, as much playing time as possible. The centre-back will have the final say on any loan move.

Ndukwe is still on tour with the professionals in the USA until August 3rd. They aim to finalize everything before his return.

A move to Austria?

Could he even go back to Austria on loan? "Talks have already taken place, but it's not a top priority for Austria," says Lederer. However, he adds that it's not due to financial reasons.

"Liverpool would be ready to support. Austria has its own plans. (...) Whether it's Austria or another club, it would be beneficial to find a solution as quickly as possible so that Ifeanyi can get started well," says the Liverpool player's agent.

There will be no purchase option in any deal. The goal is for the young Austrian to return to Liverpool afterwards.

Austria coach Stefan Helm is still following his former protégé. As he revealed to LAOLA1 after the match against Wiener Sportclub, the Burgenland native watched "all sequences" of the 18-year-old's Liverpool debut.
