Ex-Sturm player moves to the Premier League
The goalkeeper is on the verge of a move to England; he once won the championship twice with Sturm Graz.
Kjell Scherpen (26) is still fondly remembered by Sturm Graz fans. With the Dutchman in goal on loan from Brighton, the club won the championship twice and the cup once.
Now, the 26-year-old is making the leap to the Premier League. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, he is moving from his Belgian club Union St.-Gilloise to Ipswich Town.
Cup Winner in Belgium
Accordingly, a transfer fee of ten million Euros is due, with a further three million Euros potentially added in bonuses. Former club Brighton & Hove Albion will benefit from a 40 percent sell-on clause.
After his loan spell at Sturm, Scherpen moved from the "Seagulls" to Belgium in 2025 for two million Euros, where he quickly established himself as the number one. After winning titles in Graz, he became a cup winner in Belgium.
