Rangnick recommended Germany deal to ÖFB national player

After the World Cup, Alexander Schlager decided to move from FC Red Bull Salzburg to Werder Bremen. There, he will meet three compatriots: Marco Friedl, Marco Grüll, and Romano Schmid.
The Salzburg native also had alternatives. "Due to the World Cup, one or two more interested parties emerged," Schlager reveals on "DAB | der Audiobeweis" on "Sky".

However, Schlager also sought advice from people familiar with Werder. The ÖFB goalie reveals: "I spoke with many former Werder players, but also with Marco Friedl, Romano Schmid, and Marco Grüll. I also got an opinion from Marko Arnautović. When things entered the crucial phase, I called the coach (Ralf Rangnick, editor's note). He confirmed to me that it's a fantastic club and that the people there do very good work."
Originally, Karl Hein was considered the new number one at the Weser, but now there is likely to be a competition with Schlager. "I bring a profile that they need. Although the coach didn't guarantee me playing time, he assured me that I would be rewarded for good performances," said the goalkeeper.
