Special Honor for ÖSV Star Embacher
The 20-year-old Olympic champion is honored in his hometown Kitzbühel. The ski jumper is looking forward to a very special premiere.
Stephan Embacher is delighted about a very special award.
The 20-year-old ÖSV ski jumper was honored by the Kitzbühel Ski Club and will be the first representative of his sport to receive his own gondola on the famous Hahnenkammbahn.
Normally, only the winners of the legendary Hahnenkamm races are immortalized on the gondolas. However, World or Olympic champions from the ranks of the Kitzbühel Ski Club can also receive this honor.
Embacher fulfilled the requirements with his Olympic victory in the Super Team event last February, together with Jan Hörl. Additionally, he was awarded the golden badge of honor of the Kitzbühel Ski Club.
Rapid Ascent
The honor crowns a remarkable rise for the Tyrolean. Embacher only celebrated his World Cup debut at the beginning of 2024, and finally achieved his breakthrough last season.
Besides Olympic gold, the 20-year-old also claimed his first World Cup victory in ski flying in Vikersund and finished sixth in the overall World Cup standings. He came in third at the Four Hills Tournament.
During the ceremony, Embacher also reflected on the increased expectations: His successes have led to greater media interest and pressure. "Everyone expects me to confirm my good performances," said the Olympic champion.
