Swimming Accident: Former World Cup Skier Suffers Collapsed Lung
The jump from the five-meter diving board ended disastrously for the ex-skier.
Former skier Chemmy Alcott ended up in the hospital after a serious accident during a family vacation.
As the now 44-year-old Alcott announced via Instagram, she suffered a collapsed lung while swimming.
The cause was a jump from a five-meter diving board that went horribly wrong. The Briton attempted a front flip but botched the rotation and landed flat on her stomach on the water with full force.
Collapsed Lung and Chest Drain
The diagnosed collapsed lung was then followed by a chest drain and several nights in the hospital.
The fact that at least Alcott's spirit was not affected is shown by her immediately posting the video of her accident on social media.
Competed in 179 World Cup Races
Between 1999 and 2014, Chemmy Alcott proudly represented Great Britain in the Alpine Ski World Cup and achieved several respectable results. In 179 World Cup races, she finished in the top 10 five times.
Furthermore, the good friend of Lindsey Vonn represented her home country at seven World Championships and four Olympic Games.
