Sofia Goggia loses important companion
The Italian skier must replace an essential staff member for the upcoming season.
Ski star Sofia Goggia will have to do without a long-time companion from the upcoming World Cup season:
As the 33-year-old announced via Instagram, her serviceman, Barnaba "Babi" Greppi, is retiring.
Greppi had been the Italian speed queen's serviceman since 2020. During their collaboration, Goggia won the Downhill World Cup three times, the Super-G World Cup once, and two Olympic medals in the downhill (silver in 2022, bronze in 2026).
Goggia will try to "behave" even without Greppi
"Looking back, I have to smile when I think of all the wonderful sporting successes we achieved together," Goggia writes via Instagram. "What I remember most from these years, and what I will carry with me forever, are the human moments we shared, even off the slopes."
She concludes with a wink: "I love you and I promise you that I 'will try to be good'."
New serviceman already confirmed
Incidentally, who will replace Greppi as serviceman by Goggia's side is already clear: Markus Gufler will take care of the Italian in this position in the future and prepare her Atomic skis.
