ÖSV Eagle speaks out after horrific injury
The 2021 Junior World Champion sustained a severe knee injury during pre-season. However, his focus is already looking forward.
After Niklas Bachlinger made his World Cup debut last season, the next step in his career was supposed to follow.
However, his ambitions were abruptly halted by a severe training fall.
He suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee as well as injuries to the inner and outer meniscus (read more >>>).
Bachlinger: "Wasn't on my 2026 Bingo Card"
The 24-year-old has now spoken out for the first time on Instagram after his fall.
"Well... what can I say. A torn ACL and two injured menisci were definitely not on my 2026 bingo card," were his first words under his post, which shows him on crutches. The injury is "a tough setback," he continued.
However, his focus is already forward: "Now it's time for rehab, patience, and hard work. The road back will be tough, but giving up has never been an option."
Several well-known names in ski sports commented under the post, including Nina Ortlieb and Eva Pinkelnig. The 24-year-old must now exercise patience; a complete season-out is also conceivable.
