Lara Gut-Behrami: Head plans for comeback
The Swiss skier originally intended to end her career after the Olympic season – but then came the severe injury. Now everything is different.
With 48 World Cup victories and, among other achievements, two overall World Cup globes, Lara Gut-Behrami is one of the most successful ski racers in history.
The now 35-year-old Swiss skier originally intended to end her career at the close of the 2025/26 season. She made this decision before she was sidelined in November 2025 by a torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in her left knee.
Whether she will continue her career or if Lara Gut-Behrami has already competed in her last World Cup race remains uncertain.
Final Decision in July
"I recently spoke with Lara on the phone again for a longer time. She is now in the final phase of her rehab, wants to get back on the slopes at the end of July, and then make a decision on how things will proceed," Head Racing Director Rainer Salzgeber provided an update in a "Krone" interview.
Nothing has been decided yet, but from Head's perspective, they are planning for the Swiss skier's return.
Head Plans for Return
"We at Head are ready," said Salzgeber, but clarified: "I have to plan on her being there. Whether it will really be that way – I don't know. She simply doesn't know herself at the moment."
"She just needs to get on the snow now to know if everything with her knee is as she imagines it to be," explained the Austrian.
