Why Henrik Kristoffersen is not allowed to race for the ÖSV
The Norwegian considered switching federations, but ultimately it didn't happen. This is the reason:
Ski star Henrik Kristoffersen raised eyebrows in the summer when he publicly flirted with switching to the ÖSV. However, nothing came of it.
The 32-year-old continues to race for his native Norway. The reason: Kristoffersen, who has lived in Salzburg for ten years, would need Austrian citizenship to compete for Austria. However, to obtain it, Kristoffersen would have to give up his Norwegian citizenship - because unlike Norway, Austria does not allow dual citizenship.
He told the podcast "Intervjuet": "I tried to find out if it would be possible to combine both." It wasn't possible.
Kristoffersen was involved in a conflict with the Norwegian federation, which had required its athletes to wear a federation sponsor on their helmets - a personal sponsor would have been more lucrative for Kristoffersen. Only recently, the federation lifted this rule.
