Kraus fights her way into the semifinals of Porto
The Austrian manages to prevail in three sets against an Estonian.
Sinja Kraus defeats Elena Malogina (WTA No. 287) from Estonia in three sets 6:7 (5), 6:3 and 6:4.
The Vienna-born player thus reaches the semifinals of the WTA 125 Challenger in Porto.
The first set was a close affair. Malogina, however, showed good timing in the decisive moments and converted her first set point in the tie-break.
Another "Break Festival"
After that, the match swung somewhat. Both players were able to break their opponent's serve multiple times, amidst a multitude of break opportunities. By the end of the match, a total of 35 break points were recorded in the statistics. Kraus, however, managed to hold her ground and level the sets with a 6:3.
In the decider, it was the Austrian number three who showed better timing. She managed to get the break for 5:4 and then held her serve to love in the subsequent game.
After this marathon match, which lasted over three hours, she will already face Reese Brantmeier (WTA No. 385) from the USA in the semifinals tomorrow, Saturday.
