Carlos Alcaraz expresses strong criticism regarding late matches at Grand Slams!

"For an athlete who finishes at 3:30 AM, it means leaving the venue at 4:30 AM and then driving back to the hotel," he reports, adding: "You don't go to bed until 6:30 or 7:00 AM. As for recovery for the next match, the opponent has an advantage. This is too much. Something must be done."

At the US Open, the Spaniard was defeated by Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals. The match ended at 3:33 AM.

Curfew in Wimbledon

In New York, Paris, and Melbourne, play is allowed late into the night. Not so in Wimbledon, where there is an 11:00 PM curfew.

There has often been criticism against matches that only finish at such a late hour. Alcaraz is now hoping for an adjustment, as fan interest is also decreasing.

"It's a shame that such a match didn't reach many spectators because they have to go to bed and work the next morning," he concludes.
