Wildcard! Davis Cup Hero to Play in Vienna

Jurij Rodionov receives a wildcard for the Erste Bank Open 500.

This means there will be at least one local player at Austria's biggest ATP tournament. The Vienna-based player earned his spot through his performance in the 3-1 Davis Cup victory over Belgium. The 27-year-old secured two points with singles victories over Gauthier Onclin and Zizou Bergs, ensuring qualification for the Final 8 in Bologna.

Tournament director Herwig Straka explains the wildcard decision: "Jurij impressively showed what he's capable of at the Davis Cup. He played great tennis in both matches, took responsibility, and secured the decisive point for Austria with his victory against a top-40 player. We are very proud of his performance and are pleased to give him the first wildcard for the Erste Bank Open 2026."

This time, Rodionov will be hoping for a bit more luck with the draw. Last year, he was eliminated in the first round by the tournament's third seed, Alex de Minaur.
