Oberleitner Reaches Quarterfinals in Hangzhou
The Viennese player, along with his Czech partner Petr Nouza, prevails in the match tie-break.
Neil Oberleitner is in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Hangzhou.
The 27-year-old Viennese player, alongside his Czech partner Petr Nouza, prevailed against the Russian-Belarusian duo Roman Safiullin and Ivan Liutarevich with a score of 6:4, 6:7(3), 10:4. Oberleitner/Nouza are seeded second in China and thus live up to their role as favorites.
In the first set, the Austrian and his partner initially couldn't convert a break point at 1:1. However, at 3:3, they managed the crucial break to make it 4:3. With strong serves, Oberleitner/Nouza confidently confirmed this and took the set 6:4.
Tight Second Set
The second set was much more balanced. As both duos held their service games, a tie-break was needed to decide it. Safiullin/Liutarevich edged it 7:3 there.
The decision therefore came down to a match tie-break. There, Oberleitner/Nouza fought back and ultimately won comfortably with 10:4.
For Oberleitner, this means his winning streak continues on the ATP Tour after a successful Davis Cup weekend in Vienna. In Austria's 3:1 victory over Belgium, the Viennese player had secured an important point in doubles with Lucas Miedler.
