Grabher Battles into Tolentino Quarterfinals
The WTA Challenger's third seed confirms her role as favorite but has to go the full distance.
Julia Grabher defeats Alice Tubello (FRA/ATP No. 230) in three sets: 3:6, 6:3, 6:4.
The Vorarlberg native thus reaches the quarterfinals of the WTA-125 Challenger in Tolentino, Italy.
At the start of the match, the tournament's third seed struggled. The 30-year-old had particular trouble with her serve. Four double faults were recorded in the first set alone. Without earning a single break point and facing seven break opportunities from Tubello, the set ended 3:6.
After that, Grabher found her rhythm, and her first serve stabilized. The world No. 111 secured the second set 6:3. In the deciding set, she managed a break at 3:3. She then held all of her subsequent service games. After 2 hours and 14 minutes, she converted her third match point to win 6:4.
