US Open: Potapova crashes out quickly in doubles
The ÖTV player and her well-known US partner suffer a rather clear defeat in New York.
A bitter day at the office for Anastasia Potapova in the first round of the US Open doubles!
The ÖTV player, alongside her US partner Sofia Kenin, suffered a 1:6, 3:6 defeat in New York against the Chinese duo of Xinyu Jiang and Shuai Zhang.
Match Lasts Just 56 Minutes
After just 26 minutes, Potapova and Kenin had to surrender the first set, having dropped three service games.
Even in the second set, the 25-year-old, alongside the Australian Open winner (2020 in singles), remained largely chanceless.
Nevertheless, the duo managed an interim break to make it 2:5. However, the match still ended after just 56 minutes in a bitter debacle.
Of course, Potapova's adventure in New York is not over yet. On Saturday, the only remaining ÖTV player will battle US local favorite Amanda Anisimova for a spot in the singles Round of 16.
