In Doubles: Clash of Austrians in Second US Open Round!
Lucas Miedler makes it to the second round in Flushing Meadows, just like Alexander Erler - now they face each other directly.
Austria can already look forward to at least one player in the US Open doubles quarterfinals!
The only question is: Will it be Lucas Miedler or Alexander Erler?
On Friday, both former doubles partners successfully overcame their opening hurdle in Flushing Meadows.
Erler, together with partner Robert Cash (USA), defeated Nuno Borges/Rinky Hijikata (POR/AUS) 7:6(4), 6:4.
Miedler beats Nakashima brothers
Shortly after, Miedler also followed suit. Together with Marc Polmans (AUS), with whom the Tulln native recently won the doubles titles in Kitzbühel and Gstaad, he defeated the US brothers Brandon and Bryce Nakashima 7:5, 6:4. Brandon is ranked 17th in the singles world rankings.
Miedler and Polmans are seeded 13th at the US Open.
