After his 3-1 victory over Jaime Faria at the US Open, Carlos Alcaraz complained about the packed schedule.

Before the tournament in New York, the Spaniard had to take a long break due to an injury. The 23-year-old now plans to manage this in the future with deliberate breaks.

"In the future, I will take some breaks, some longer breaks. Maybe not four months, but one month, two months, skipping some tournaments because it's impossible to play them all," Alcaraz complained.

Four Months Sidelined by Wrist Injury

He stated it's not feasible to endure such a workload, and many players are getting injured and fatigued. More players are expected to complain about this in the near future, the Spaniard added.

The world number three is considered a favourite for the US Open alongside Alexander Zverev. In the third round, Alcaraz will face Wu Yibing, the world number 113.

For Alcaraz, it's about defending his title in New York. In 2025, he defeated the currently injured Jannik Sinner in the final.
