Lukas Neumayer Masters Opening Match Against Local Favourite
The player from Salzburg is thus in the second round of the ATP Challenger in Genoa.
Lukas Neumayer defeats local favourite Stefano D'Agostino 6:3, 7:6 and is in the round of 16 in Genoa.
Just a few days after his fighting performance against Zizou Bergs in the Davis Cup, the player from Salzburg returns to the tour.
The third-seeded Austrian takes his form with him to Italy. In the first set, Neumayer broke for 4:3 and shortly after for a 6:3 set win, converting his second set point.
In the second set, too, the world number 183 in the ATP rankings was able to put pressure on D'Agostino (ATP No. 755) with his forehand. Nevertheless, it was a tighter affair, with the decision coming in the tie-break. Neumayer kept the upper hand there, converting his second match point after 1 hour and 45 minutes.
In the round of 16, he will face the next Italian, Juan Cruz Martin Manzano (ATP No. 438).
