Donald sparked cheers at SoFi Stadium as he sprinted onto the field through a gauntlet of teammates. He was immediately involved in the Giants' first offensive play.
Donald had announced his retirement in March 2024 after ten years with the Rams (formerly in St. Louis). Late last month, he revoked his retirement after the Rams signed Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns. Donald could not resist the opportunity to play alongside one of his few direct competitors on the defensive line.
Donald had already announced last week that he intended to play against the Giants. In 2021, the 35-year-old had won the Super Bowl with the Rams.
Injuries for the Giants
For the Giants, quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Malik Nabers were injured in the first quarter.
Dart suffered a knee injury on his team's first offensive drive, while Nabers injured his right shoulder on the second-to-last play of the quarter.
