Kraus comfortably into the round of 16 in Porto
The Austrian clearly navigates the first round in Portugal in two sets.
After four consecutive defeats, Sinja Kraus has effortlessly reached the round of 16 at the WTA 125 tournament in Porto.
Against Australia's Lizette Cabrera (WTA 309), the Austrian only needed 1 hour and 18 minutes of playing time to secure her 6-1, 6-4 victory.
In the first set, Austria's number three broke her opponent's serve in every game. However, when she had the chance to serve for the set, she conceded a break herself. In the following game, the Viennese player still comfortably secured the first set.
Manageable Draw in the Round of 16
The second set proved to be much more contested. Kraus immediately lost her first service game. However, she managed a re-break and, with another break and her first match point, the 24-year-old ultimately secured the victory.
In the next round, a manageable draw awaits the second-seeded Kraus once again. She will face either Spain's Celia Cervino Ruiz (WTA 579) or local favorite Matilde Jorge (WTA 255).
