Confirmed! Gall moves to Lidl-Trek
The third-place finisher at the Vuelta is moving to Lidl-Trek with key domestique Gregor Mühlberger. Felix Gall raced for the French team Decathlon for five years.
Felix Gall and Gregor Mühlberger are joining the German cycling team Lidl-Trek.
The East Tyrolean, who this year achieved a 2nd place at the Giro d'Italia and a 3rd place at the Vuelta, is now opening a new chapter. He and Mühlberger are signing a three-year contract until 2029.
Lidl-Trek aims to become the best cycling team in the entire peloton in the future. In addition to the two Austrians, Grischa Niermann has also been signed. The German was previously a domestique for Jonas Vingegaard, Wout van Aert, and Primoz Roglic.
Will Gall be the Team Leader?
It is not yet certain if Gall will again be the leader in his new team: "Of course, we discussed my role at Lidl-Trek during negotiations. We will make concrete plans at the first team meeting in December," he told "Krone".
With both podium finishes this year at the Grand Tours, Gall is only the 23rd cyclist in history to achieve this.
This year, Gall skipped the Tour de France. Whether he will start next year will also be decided in December.
