Jürgen Klopp plans XXL squad for Nations League
The former Red Bull boss plans a significantly larger squad than usual for his debut as DFB national team coach.
Jürgen Klopp kicks off his adventure as head coach of the German national team!
On Thursday, the new national team coach will name his first squad for the four upcoming Nations League matches. Germany will face the Netherlands, Greece, Serbia, and Greece again.
As reported by "Sky" among others on Monday, the former Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull is planning something special. His first squad is said to be significantly larger than the prescribed 23 players.
Up to 40 players?
The regulations allow for this. An association only has to announce by 11:59 PM before each match which 23 players are nominated for that particular game. Theoretically, the list can look different for each match.
In this context, "Sportschau" even mentions up to 40 players that Klopp could nominate. It is conceivable that the new national team coach could change the squad within the two weeks and give all players match and training time.
