Vuelta Podium! Gall Makes Cycling History Again
The East Tyrolean finishes the Tour of Spain on the podium, becoming the first Austrian to do so. It is his second Grand Tour podium this year.
Felix Gall has once again made Austrian cycling history.
After his second overall place in the Giro d'Italia, the East Tyrolean finished the Vuelta a España in third place. He is the first Austrian ever to achieve this.
The final stage became a lap of honor for overall winner Enric Mas, second-placed Slovenian Primoz Roglic, and Gall. His gap to Mas ultimately stands at 2:44 minutes, while he is only 29 seconds behind four-time Vuelta triumphant Roglic.
The 28-year-old has thus completed his last Grand Tour for the Decathlon team. The 28-year-old will move to Lidl-Trek together with Gregor Mühlberger. His next goal is the World Championship road race in Montreal on September 27.
Meanwhile, the final stage, finishing in Granada, went to Norway's Tobias Halland Johannesen, who prevailed in an exciting sprint ahead of Italy's Alessandro Romele and Belgium's Ramses Debruyne.
