Cycling: Swiss Team secures first Grand Tour stage win
On the 19th stage of the Vuelta in Spain, Eddie Dunbar wins for the Pinarello Q36.5 Cycling Team. At the top, everything remains unchanged.
The Swiss cycling team Pinarello Q36.5 has celebrated its first victory in one of the three Grand Tours on the 19th stage.
Eddie Dunbar emerged from a breakaway group to win. The stage with a mountain finish in Malaga was eagerly anticipated in the fight for the overall classification.
However, nothing changed at the top. The gap between Felix Gall and Mas remains over three minutes. But the lead over fourth-placed Richard Carapaz is also still over two minutes.
Decision on victory only tomorrow
Local hero Enric Mas remains ahead of Primoz Roglic and the East Tyrolean. The decision for the Vuelta victory will be made tomorrow on the penultimate stage.
On the queen stage, featuring four climbs of the highest category, nearly 187km and 5,000 meters of altitude gain await. Gall could secure his second podium finish at a Grand Tour in one year, following his 2nd place at the Giro d'Italia.
Before Gall, no Austrian had ever achieved a top-three finish in a Grand Tour.
