Djokovic's Early US Open Exit Ends 24-Year Streak
For the first time since October 2002, none of the "Big Three" of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic will be in the top ten of the world rankings.
Novak Djokovic has already been eliminated in the first round of this year's US Open. This early exit now has consequences for his world ranking.
As of Monday, the Serb will drop out of the ATP world rankings' top 10. The 24-time Grand Slam winner had consistently been among the world's top ten tennis players for eight years.
This also marks the end of the "Big Three" era. For the first time since October 2002, none of the greats Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, or Novak Djokovic will be in the world's top ten.
Federer ended his career in 2022, Nadal at the Davis Cup in 2024. According to his own statements, Djokovic intends to play at least until the 2028 Olympic Games. Together, the three have won 66 Grand Slam titles.
