Semifinals! ÖTV talent Behrmann extends US Open successful run
The 18-year-old defeats Italian Simone Massellani in the quarterfinals of the junior competition. Now the tournament favourite awaits.
ÖTV talent Thilo Behrmann reaches the semifinals of the US Open junior competition!
The 18-year-old defeats unseeded Italian Simone Massellani 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
This means Behrmann is among the top four in his final junior Grand Slam appearance due to his age.
Confidently into the Semifinals
The Burgenland-based player starts the duel against Massellani with a break. However, he immediately concedes a rebreak. Behrmann manages another break to make it 3-2, but subsequently drops two more service games. Thus, the first set goes to the Italian.
In the second set, the ÖTV talent takes two service games from his opponent and levels the match at 1-1.
Behrmann leaves nothing to chance in the third set either. In the end, he converts his first match point and serves out confidently for a 6-3 win.
In the semifinals, top-seeded Brazilian Luis "Guto" Miguel now awaits. Behrmann already faced 17-year-old Miguel in June at the French Open and had to admit defeat in the quarterfinals.
