US Open: Austrian Youngster Behrmann Storms into Quarter-Finals!

Thilo Behrmann has reached the quarter-finals of the US Open Junior Championships.

The 18-year-old Austrian defeated American Andrew Johnson 4:6, 7:6 (2), 6:2 in 2 hours and 19 minutes.

This means Behrmann is once again among the best eight at his last Junior Grand Slam. He had already reached the quarter-finals at the French Open in June.

Italian Awaits

After losing the first set, Behrmann fought back. In the second set, he clearly won the tie-break 7:2, and in the third set, he won five consecutive games after trailing 1:2.

In the quarter-finals on Thursday, the seventh-seeded Austrian will face unseeded Italian Simone Massellani. With a win, Behrmann would reach a Junior Grand Slam semi-final for the first time.

In doubles, however, Behrmann has been eliminated. Together with Dan Brand, he lost to Yannik Alvarez and Ryan Cozad 2:6, 2:6.
