Lucas Miedler and Marc Polmans lost to Arevalo/Pavic 6:7 (3), 6:4, 3:6 and are eliminated in the round of 16 at the US Open.

After the Tulln native was able to defeat his former doubles partner Alexander Erler in the previous round, the third-seeded doubles pair of Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador and Mate Pavic from Croatia now awaited.

In the first set, both pairings engaged in a closely contested duel. Since each held their own serve, the decision came down to a tiebreak. Miedler and Polmans were somewhat slow to start, quickly falling behind 0:4, and ultimately lost 3:7.

The second set went better. Miedler and Polmans secured the break for a 4:3 lead and took the set 6:4. In the decider, Arevalo/Pavic timed it perfectly, broke for 5:3, then held their own serve and converted their first match point.

Lucas Miedler can nevertheless look back positively on the US Open 2026. By reaching the round of 16, he improves his ATP doubles world ranking to 24th place.

With that, Thilo Behrmann, in the junior round of 16, is the last Austrian representative at this year's US Open. The 18-year-old from Burgenland will face local favorite Andrew Johnson on Wednesday evening.
