ÖTV player Filip Misolic wins in the first round of the ATP Challenger in Tulln. He defeated German Henri Squire in straight sets 6:4, 6:0.

Against the world No. 215, Misolic still had trouble finding his game, but managed to succeed with two breaks and conceding only one re-break.

In the second set, the nervousness dissipated, and a much better game rhythm was evident. His opponent committed seven double faults throughout the match, and Misolic eventually converted his second match point for a 6:0 victory.

Drought Ends

This first-round victory is his first match win at an ATP event since January 11th in Adelaide. Misolic had to endure a long injury break and only made his comeback at the US Open against Francisco Cerundolo, where he was defeated. The Graz native was suffering from a severe rupture of the plantar fascia in his right foot.

Misolic himself expressed relief after the win in an ORF interview: "I'm quite relieved to get the first win. It was better than I thought, but at the beginning, I was very nervous, of course. Later on, though, it didn't look bad."

Looking ahead to the coming months, his goals are modest: "The plan is to play as much as possible. It's hard to say because it's almost the end of the season, but I do believe I can achieve great things; we'll see how it goes."
