Ailing Misolic loses in second round at home tournament
It's an early exit for the physically struggling Graz native at the ATP Challenger tournament in Tulln.
Filip Misolic is eliminated in Tulln against Switzerland's Mika Brunold with scores of 1:6, 7:6 (2), 2:6.
The Graz native had significant difficulty finding his rhythm at the start of the match. Misolic had a high error rate, particularly on his serve and returns.
The second set was a bit tighter. Misolic played his way into the tie-break and won it convincingly 7:2.
In the third set, he was further hampered by thigh pain and also received treatment. According to the 25-year-old, these issues reportedly arose during the match. He was broken twice by the world No. 410, including on match point for the decisive 6:2.
"Somehow the passive player"
A frustrated Filip Misolic commented on the match in an ORF interview: "The only thing I can say is that I tried everything, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough."
His performance and own playing style left him somewhat at a loss: "Generally, I was somehow the passive player in this match, I don't know why. Let's see what the coach says. Today, the aggressive play didn't work out."
In the near future, Misolic plans to play more ATP Challengers in Europe, with his next stop being in Poland.
