The central midfielder had not extended his expiring contract with WSG Tirol, hoping for an attractive offer from abroad. However, a suitable one did not materialize.
Now he has signed for one year in the capital, giving him the chance to impress the Violets and, in the summer, fulfill his desire for an international transfer on a free.
Helm's wish comes true
And Helm gets what he has been wishing for for weeks: an experienced man for the central midfield who can instantly improve that part of the team. Müller made his Bundesliga debut almost exactly a decade ago under Damir Canadi for Altach.
"We are constantly exploring if there's a small piece of the puzzle that can still improve our team. What we can use is exactly what he can give us," says the FAK coach about Müller, whom he describes as a "very intelligent player and experienced Bundesliga player."
A quiet leader
Müller can and should be a leader. "A true leader who can give a lot to a team on the pitch with very active coaching and also off the pitch," enthuses Helm.
"Man hat schon gesehen, dass er nicht nur in der Kabine, sondern auch am Platz seinen Teil dazu beitragen kann, dass das richtig cool wird."
New teammate Johannes Handl adds: "A great guy. A very quiet person, but very open in his communication. He immediately tried to talk to everyone. He's already doing that very well. He is certainly an asset to the team, both personally and football-wise. We've already seen that he can contribute his part, not only in the locker room but also on the pitch, to make things really cool."
Markovic and Maybach expected to benefit
Especially the two talents Vasilije Markovic and Philipp Maybach are expected to benefit from Müller as a teammate.
Helm: "He is someone who has an influence on other players – especially on players who still have development ahead of them."
Overall, this signing was "a smart move," the coach is sure. Now it's time to confirm that on the pitch.
