Schöller, Ndzie and Co.: The Latest on Rapid's Injured Players
Six SK Rapid professionals are currently working on their return to the pitch. Not all healing processes are progressing as desired.
SK Rapid's professional squad currently comprises a total of 30 players.
However, head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup has to cope with several painful absences – six players are currently unavailable to the Hütteldorf side due to injuries.
As the "Kurier" now reports, the recovery processes of the convalescing Hütteldorf players are partially not going according to plan.
Ndzie and Marcelin as Problem Cases
Midfielder Martin Ndzie, in particular, is causing concern for the Green-Whites. The Cameroonian was actually supposed to be back in full training, make his comeback in autumn, and subsequently justify the transfer fee of 2.5 million Euros paid in summer 2025.
Now, his knee is apparently still causing problems for the 23-year-old after his surgery. Full load is still not possible, and how to proceed is unclear. Additionally, Jean Marcelin suffered a setback; the defender from Madagascar reinjured himself after his comeback with Rapid II.
The situation is also not optimal for winger Daniel Nunoo. The 20-year-old is still suffering from a muscle injury that the Ghanaian had not noticed for a long time. However, he is expected to return this autumn and also receive a new contract.
Vincze, Schöller and Co. on the Right Track
Things look better for the Austrians.
Dominik Vincze is brimming with eagerness after his cruciate ligament rupture in March; he aims to make a full return this autumn – initially with Rapid II.
Jakob Schöller could celebrate his comeback next week against WSG Tirol, says Johannes Hoff Thorup. They do not want to take any risks with the vice-captain. Jonas Auer, meanwhile, is expected to be fully back in action after the international break.
