Poland move falls through for Sturm striker!

Szymon Wlodarczyk (23) was considered a hot candidate for a departure from SK Sturm Graz this summer, one year before his contract expired.

A deal was quite concrete. "We made a conscious decision, because a possible transfer for 'Wloda' is on the cards," Fabio Ingolitsch explained the striker's non-nomination for the away match against Rapid at the end of August.

Transfer windows of linked clubs are closed

At the time, FC Thun (Switzerland) and NK Celje (Slovenia) were mentioned as possible destinations. The transfer window has since closed in both countries.

The last trail led to Poland. Wisla Krakow, Korona Kielce and Widzew Łódź were considered possible destinations. However, the transfer window there has also closed since Thursday, making a move back home impossible.

Wisla president Jarosław Królewski made no secret of the fact that the Pole was offered.

On the show "Deadline Day Live", he revealed: "It's true that Szymon Wlodarczyk was offered to us. He was on the list."

A stay becomes more likely

However, a deal ultimately did not materialize. Thus, the Pole's stay in Graz is becoming increasingly likely. Most transfer windows have already closed.

Possible destinations would still include Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Armenia, Slovakia, Greece, or Serbia. Whether the Sturm attacker would even consider such a transfer remains to be seen.
