Speed skater Jutta Leerdam will not compete in the upcoming season.

The Dutch athlete is taking an indefinite break. "I'm following my feeling. One thing I know for sure: I won't be competing this season. You won't see me on the ice," she reports on her YouTube channel.

However, she is not talking about retirement: "I don't want to completely close the door to something I love so much - speed skating."

Just in February, the 27-year-old celebrated gold in the 100 meters and silver in the 500 meters in Milan. The period that followed was the most interesting and happiest of her life.

Leerdam currently wants to focus on social media. "I'm full of life. I want to explore the world. I want to be spontaneous. I also love other sports. I love learning other skills," she concludes. The speed skater has over six million followers on Instagram.
