It had been in the works for a while and has now been officially confirmed: Fabio Quartararo will switch from Yamaha to Honda for the 2027 and 2028 MotoGP seasons.

He will lead the factory team into the new 805cc era of the premier class of motorcycling and, for the first time since his promotion to the top category in 2019, will ride a different manufacturer's bike than Yamaha.

The collaboration ends after eleven wins, 32 podium finishes and the 2021 World Championship title. However, his last success was four years ago, and in the last three seasons, there has been only a single podium finish.

Yamaha had already announced his replacement with Spaniard Jorge Martin, so the completion of the switch is no longer a huge surprise.
