KAC Defender Retires After Cardiovascular Collapse
The Canadian is healthy again after his medical emergency in March. However, he will no longer step onto the ice as an active player.
Jordan Murray has ended his active career.
The Canadian defender for KAC suffered a cardiovascular collapse in March during the playoff quarter-final home game against Fehervar AV19 and had to be resuscitated on the bench for several minutes.
Murray was admitted to Klinikum Klagenfurt in stable condition, where further care and several surgical procedures followed over the course of the subsequent weeks.
At the end of April, the 33-year-old was finally able to return to his home country and is in good health again. Nevertheless, Murray is calling time on his career.
"I'm back to my old self health-wise"
"I want to thank everyone for all the love and support I have received over the past few months. I am happy to announce that I am back to my old self health-wise, and this incident in March has left me with no lasting damage," Murray announced in his farewell words, delivering good news.
He revealed: "My partner, who was always by my side, and I are doing wonderfully, and we also got engaged this month. Without our club doctors Hannes and Günther, I wouldn't have been able to propose, so I will be forever grateful to them and all other medical professionals along this journey!"
The end of his career did not happen in the way the Canadian would have wished. "But I am very happy that I was able to play this sport for so long and that I am now healthy enough to lead a normal life from this point on," said the former defender.
