Is the end of Cristiano Ronaldo's career approaching?

The Portuguese superstar once again sparked cheers on Friday with his goal against Croatia (to the match report >>>). He also broke a record: He crowned himself the oldest goal scorer in a World Cup knockout phase.

However, as his sister now reveals to "SportTV", his farewell from the national team could be imminent: "According to the information I have, from a reliable source, you can start saying goodbye. Because I believe it's over now," she said before the match against Croatia.

"I don't think he's retiring today, but it will be soon. So enjoy it," she added.

Ronaldo Remains Tight-Lipped

He himself has not yet commented on the topic of ending his career. After the tournament, he will talk to his family and consider how to proceed. "I no longer make decisions in the heat of the moment. The only thing that matters to me right now is enjoying the present and helping the national team," Ronaldo is quoted as saying.

The 2030 World Cup will take place in Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. For Ronaldo, it would be a home game. However, he would already be 45 years old at that point.
