Julián Álvarez wants to leave Atlético Madrid this summer. The 26-year-old is seeking a move to league rivals Barcelona.

According to "Mundo Deportivo", the World Cup runner-up returned from his holiday yesterday and wanted to discuss his future with coach Diego Simeone. He had reportedly expressed his desire to leave some time ago.

Upon his arrival in Madrid, however, Álvarez reportedly discovered that Simeone was not present. He is said to have been on Ibiza for two days, and CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín was also unavailable.

Signs point to departure

According to "Mundo Deportivo", Álvarez told those present at the training ground: "I'm out!" He wants to stick to his position: The Argentinian claims to have had the club's assurance since February that he would be allowed to leave this summer.

An offer from FC Barcelona of around 100 million euros was rejected by Atlético some time ago.
