Not Rodri: Real Madrid targets Spanish international
Following Rodri's transfer rejection, the Madrid club is still looking for a midfielder. However, this one is likely to be expensive.
José Mourinho still wants a midfielder at Real Madrid. A strong, ball-winning midfielder is sought.
Martín Zubimendi from FC Arsenal is considered a candidate for this position. As "Mundo Deportivo" in Spain reports, the Madrid club was already interested in the 27-year-old last season.
The English champions recently acquired Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for almost 90 million Euros. This also creates additional competition in Zubimendi's position.
Transfer is likely to be complicated
However, "the Gunners" are demanding at least 90 million Euros for the Spaniard, who was only signed last season for almost 70 million Euros.
Furthermore, FC Chelsea is also interested in a transfer. Coach Xabi Alonso wanted to bring him to Madrid last year.
Should "the Royals" fail to sign another midfielder, according to Mourinho, new signing Bernardo Silva could also take on this role.
