After successful home World Cup: Pochettino extends long-term
The Argentinian has extended his contract until July 2030 and is set to lead the USA to the next World Cup as well.
Mauricio Pochettino will remain long-term at the helm of the US national team.
As announced by the US federation, the 54-year-old Argentinian has prematurely extended his contract, which was originally set to run until after the 2026 home World Cup, until July 2030.
This means Pochettino will also manage the US Boys on their way to the 2030 World Cup in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.
Successful Home World Cup as Foundation
The contract extension comes as little surprise. Pochettino enjoys great respect in the USA following the performances at the 2026 home World Cup.
The team, led by star player Christian Pulisic, finished their group as winners and confidently advanced to the knockout stage. There, the selection first prevailed in the Round of 32 against Bosnia and Herzegovina, before their journey ended in the Round of 16 against Belgium.
In Office Since 2024
Pochettino has been at the helm of the US national team since September 2024.
Previously, the former centre-back worked for several top European clubs. He managed Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea FC, among others, before taking on the role of US head coach.
