In the professional squad of VfB Stuttgart, head coach Sebastian Hoeneß is taking a closer look at two ÖFB talents during pre-season preparation.

In the 2-2 draw against FC Paris, one player particularly impressed: Yanik Spalt (18) showed his class. "I want to highlight him; he presented himself superbly," Hoeneß is quoted by "Bild".

The 18-year-old made his professional debut in January in the UEFA Europa League against AS Roma but didn't get further playing time afterwards. However, the head coach's words give the central midfielder hope.

What about Olivier?

For weeks, however, rumors have been circulating about Austrian right-back Christopher Olivier, with the 20-year-old potentially leaving the club.

According to "Bild," Stuttgart wants to observe the situation for another week. Olivier recently scored in a friendly match. However, a move is conceivable without a clear perspective. Schalke, Hannover, and Bröndby are named as interested clubs.

For a while now, no youth player has established themselves long-term with the Stuttgart professionals; Spalt was the only youngster who made his professional debut last season. The ÖFB U19 captain now wants to establish himself long-term.
